How to choose a suitable home battery

A home battery temporarily stores electrical energy so that you can use it later. Combined with solar panels, this allows you to use a larger share of the electricity you generate yourself, for example in the evening when the solar panels produce little or no electricity.

What should you look for?

When choosing a home battery, pay particular attention to the usable capacity in kWh, charging and discharging power, expandability and compatibility with the inverter. The most suitable capacity depends on factors such as daily energy consumption, solar panel yield and the times at which you use electricity.

The design of the battery system also plays an important role. A modular system can be attractive if you want to expand the storage capacity later, for example because of a heat pump, electric car or expansion of the solar panels.

Also check which options the system offers for monitoring, smart energy management and possible backup power. Not every home battery supports the same functions. By matching capacity, power and compatibility carefully, you can choose a home battery that suits the property, energy consumption and any future expansion.
