Choosing solar panels for your home or project

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity that you can use directly. When choosing a suitable solar panel the power output in watt-peak (Wp), dimensions, panel technology and available roof space are especially important. A higher-output panel can generate more energy, but it also needs to fit the roof and the rest of the installation properly.

What should you look for?

The final yield depends, among other things, on the roof orientation and pitch, any shading and the number of panels that can be installed. The selected inverter must also technically match the power output and characteristics of the solar panels.

Also plan ahead. A future heat pump, electric vehicle or home battery can change electricity consumption. It can therefore be wise to take future expansion into account when designing the installation.
